HacDC is a non-profit organization and space dedicated to technical, artistic and social collaboration. We are technologists, tinkerers, crafters and codemonkeys who call DC home. We collaborate across disciplines for the benefit of cultural, charitable and scientific causes. We create, learn and teach as a group, inviting our neighbors around the block and around the world to join us!

They were sewn, I don't know about 'successfully'. I think they looked pretty good for someone who has only sewn towel hemming on an antique machine before.

Elliot looks pimped out in the traditional black lab coat ! Were the badges successfully sewn? I can't see them here, I'm sure they look great though! (Refrained from comments involving "Elliot" and "Butt Setts") - lmao.

I am starting a project based on Smart Clothing @ HacDC - if anyone is interested please e-mail me if you haven't done so already. The goal is going to be to raise money to buy a machine that the DC community could use and are in need of. (Something of the 'techshop' variety)

Cheers,

Hey, what's the name of this group? Instead of a Flip, buy almost the same camcorder at CVS for $30 and hack it!

http://www.maushammer.com/systems/cvscamcorder/

I have a number of these that I got for the purpose of having a "5 Minute Film Festival", where each participant (or team) is given a hacked CVS camcorder and they have to make a five minute (or shorter) video in-camera, in say 24 or even 12 hours.

You were much more methodical in dismantling yours than I was. :) If you're interested in bringing yours to HacDC one of these evenings, let me know and I'll come by with mine too.

Hey, this is Tom Lee, the guy who wrote that DCist post. Just wanted to say that I'm glad someone is picking up the gauntlet and doing more work on the SmarTrip. I'll be curious to see what you find out. I've thought about it a lot over the years, but haven't been willing to splurge on an RFID devkit.

I've been following HacDC and dropped by your equipment drive; I'm hoping to make it to at least one of your upcoming inaugural events. I'll try to catch you there.

Would a Flip Ultra work? The Flip Their quality wasn't that great, so a flip should cover it.

I wanted to let those of you that requested the slides know that I posted them, along with the sources to two of the binaries we looked at. The links are on my blog.

I welcome any questions or comments :)
